We've been thinking over this past year - well, over more than that! :) - but for this post's purposes, I'm just writing about what's happened from last August til this August. In just a one year span....
We moved out of my parents' basement (where we were living last Summer) and into our new house. (August '09)
Then we renovated - or more accurately, just finished what was remaining: a bathroom, kitchen, patios, and lots of finish work. (August/September '09)
We got pregnant one month later... (September '09)
Ken began the application process for grad school - which turned out to be quite time consuming with all the essays (Fall '09)
Then Ken started finishing the unfinished basement. (he turned what was studs & cement, into fantastic living space that added a family room & den to our home) (Fall/Winter of '09/'10)
We celebrated our 6th anniversary (January '10)
Found out Ken had testicular cancer; he had surgery & thus began the start of all that entails... regular scans, blood work, lots of prayer over this (February/March '10)
3 days after his surgery, Ken went down to Pullman for his grad school interviews... and was offered a spot in the Molecular BioSciences program
A few weeks later, we found out Ken's dear mom had breast cancer (March '10)
We took a family trip to Seattle with my parents to try to clear our heads and soak up memories together (end of March '10)
I turned 30 (April '10)
We welcomed little Logan (May 27th, 2010) :)
We began creating a backyard from what was just weeds & gravel piles and added sod, some plants & flowers (courtesy of our amazing parents!), and a fun wooden play scape for the kids (Spring/Summer '10)
Took a family trip to the Oregon Coast (see previous posts regarding Cannon Beach) :)... had an amazing time! (August '10)
Ken started his PhD program at WSU... (August '10)
SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESHHHHH!!!!!!! It has been an utterly crazy year to say the least. Moves, renovations, pregnancy, cancer, travel, and starting school. It has also been a year of a lot of growth in our faith and in relationships - we have been truly humbled through endless grace and amazing outpourings of His tangible love in more ways than I could ever count. We are enormously thankful for each and every one of you who have prayed and been such an encouragement through it all. We love you & hope you too, can look back on the past year and see the way God has moved in your lives and praise Him all the more for what He has done! :) We sure have an amazing God!!!!!
