First off, I just want to thank you for all the incredibly encouraging comments, phone calls, kind thoughts and above all, for your prayers. As you know, Ken interviewed last week for a new job. We were super excited about the prospect of change - and both do still feel God preparing us for a different season - but, (there's always the infamous "but" in something like this, right?).... he was offered the position & through a lot of prayer, conversations between us, and wise counsel from parents, Ken is not going to take the job. We had prayed that if this was a move God would have us make, He would open the doors wide through the interview process and also give us confirmation through the financial aspect of it too. This job would have been a hefty pay cut for us, and while we were open to that, we also knew there would come a point when it would require a larger sacrifice than the job would be worth. We both value time as a family big time, and had Ken taken the job at the (non-negotiable) wages they offered, it would have necessitated Ken working a 2nd job, several nights a week. We were so in hopes of day schedule for Ken, for the challenge of a new job where he could use his gifts and invest in a new sphere of influence. But, the Lord's timing is perfect & we both feel like this was not meant to be.
Thank you too for all the mega sweet compliments about the house. You guys are too nice!!! As a quick update with that stuff; nothing serious yet, just a lot of interest and encouragement with regular calls & showings. It's exhausting trying to keep the house clean with kiddos 24/7 on the chance that someone will call and want to walk through on a whim! I shouldn't make it sound like it's that big of a deal, really, it is rather fun & a great excuse to stay on top of laundry and dishes. It feels great going to bed each night with a clean house! Ken jokes about how all we need to do is move every 2 years, and that'll help ensure we don't collect too much junk and can keep things more orderly. Yeah, right. Welcome to the world of having kids where they come with more stuff than you can imagine!! At any rate, I'll keep you posted on the house.
Since I'm doing updates, here's what else is happening: Maggie is into everything & just getting over a little cold. Still not walking, but certainly gets to where she wants to go - and FAST! Jack is just a ham & his vocab and communication skills are improving every day - we are so thrilled!!! Ken & I are doing awesome. Believe it or not, 5 years ago on the night of August 2nd, we got engaged up at our dear friends', Jon & Belinda's house. We love thinking back on the memory of our engagement and the season of life we were in... and all the memories & ways God has worked in us since. So much has happened in those short 5 years!!!! Job changes, 2 kids, renovating homes, finishing school... life has been good. Life is good.
Thanks again for all the encouragement and love. Your prayers are appreciated more than you'll ever know. Hugs from the four of us and we hope you have a great weekend!
