Picked up fresh strawberries for the drive home (among other fruits and beautiful flower bouquets) - LOVE that market! :)

Enjoying Pike Street & fresh strawberries too

This past weekend, my parents treated us (spoiled with massive love & generosity might be the better terms) ;), to a family weekend away over in Seattle with them. We stayed in the heart of downtown, walking distance to all the fun shops in the city, Pike Street market, and close to the monorail that takes you to the space needle. We had such a blast-- my gosh, talk about a refreshing & FUN weekend! The kids had a blast with my parents too (of course they did!), and we were just so incredibly touched by all the thoughtful ways my parents sought to make it such an easy, relaxing weekend for us all. We had a trip to the Seattle Aquarium (Maggie's favorite was the birds?! haha), Jack loved riding the monorail train to the space needle & seeing the flying fish at Pike Street Market, we enjoyed a beautiful view from Alki beach and incredible breakfast at the Alki Cafe, did some shopping at Ikea, and my parents even gave Ken & I a "night out in the city" as an early birthday gift while they took the kids. We went out to dinner and coffee, then perused city shops we don't have on this side of the state. The kids were outstanding the whole weekend, and to say my parents were amazing would be an understatement. It really was such a huge (and probably needed) getaway to simply be together as a family & just enjoy such a fun time in an energized, beautiful city like Seattle.
