Breakfast outside with my little family

...my guys flat out, by 7:30pm. :)
Gosh, I feel so dang blessed to be a mom. Growing up, I think that is ultimately what I always wanted to be... a wife and mom. As I've entered into those roles, I see the changes God is making in and through me, and how a seemingly simple childhood dream has come to be a blessing beyond measure and mega tool to grow me in the Lord. There's nothing quite like getting married that revealed my selfishness, and then nothing quite like motherhood to peel away even more layers. ;) I've come to appreciate so much more that my Mom did through the years and the wonderful example she set. Ahh, what joy in the mission of motherhood! :)
After working a long (closing bar) shift last night, then stopping by the store to pick up fresh fruit and breakfast supplies to surprise me with on his way home, poor Ken didn't get to bed last night until 4:30am!! He set his alarm, so he'd be sure to wake up early this morning to surprise me with breakfast & flowers. 3 hours of sleep later, he was up, beaming (darn near saintly status if ya ask me!), as he cut fresh fruit and made an awesome fruit salad & toast with our favorite jam for breakfast... which we got to enjoy leisurely outside on this beautiful day. Most meals are fast around here with our little ones ready to be on to the next thing in a jiffy. But we got to spend a good 45 minutes or so relaxing in the warm sunshine, eating slowly, and listening to the sound of birds and our kids laughing and playing right near us. What a perfect way to start this beautiful day! We looked at each other & vowed that we need to do this every weekend during the summer! :) Hope all you Moms out there felt extra blessed and appreciated today (and always) for the wonderful role you hold in pouring into your kids and family. You are loved!!!!
