This past Sunday, August 1st, was a special day in our family. We dedicated our dear little Logan at church. Our pastor, Russ Davis, had us write a letter to Logan that we read before our church family. He also talked about us as a community of believers, investing in the lives of our children - in addition to what we do as an intimate family - and essentially all working towards "raising up" kids in the love of Christ. What he said was really sweet and we are so thankful to be a part of the Body at large, and especially a part of such an amazing group of fellow believers. We were super excited to, to have my brother & sister (plus cousins Max & Ella) visiting at the same time. More pics on our time with them coming in the next post. :) Here are a few pics and the letter we wrote to him and shared at church.

Dear Logan,

We have prayed for you since the day we learned I was pregnant with you and it seems there just aren’t adequate words for the miracle and joy you are to us. I love that your name is forever part of our family story and heritage, with a meaning that truly speaks to our hearts. Your name means: out of the valley, or from the hollow. When I was 6 months pregnant with you, we found out your Dad had cancer. We experienced a closeness to God like never before, and our trust in Him deepened as we grew through that trial. You, Logan, were an inexpressible hope and joy we looked forward to meeting and raising together as we walked through that valley. Your middle name, Boyd, is also your Dad’s middle name and you carry on a wonderful blend of Irish-Scottish-Scandinavian-German-Chinese and Hawaiian heritage.

We want you to know what a treasure you are to us. Your life is forever woven into our hearts, cherished to the full. We are committed to loving you unconditionally - to tell you about Jesus’ love for you and share the work of Christ in our own lives in a way we pray is authentic and humble in hopes that your heart would be softened towards His word and work in your own life… and that our deepest prayer for each of you kids would be answered: that you would come to know and love Jesus and commit your life to following Him. We are committed to praying for you daily: for your salvation, your character, your future, your purity, your health, and even for your future wife should God call you into a marriage. Already we dream of you becoming a man of great faith and honor, filled with compassion and tenderness, being a peace-maker and man of resolve, that you would love to learn and find creative ways to use the talents and gifts God gives you, that you would be a great listener and slow to anger, that you would be a lover of people and posses a servant-heart.

Even in utero, you were a calm baby and I often wondered if that was an indication of what your personality might be like. In these first 2 months of your life, we have certainly seen that same calm carry over most of the time. Most days, you are quite content, and always such a little love! You love to be held and near people - which we adore. Your big grins and expressive, beautiful eyes melt our hearts and leave us ever in awe of what a miracle and true gift you are to our family. We dedicate you before God and our commitment to seeking the Lord as we raise you and pray for you - asking for wisdom and grace-filled hearts to share the love of Christ with you. We love you and praise Jesus for you, Logan Boyd Boggs!
