Camping at Honeyman

I've loved looking through posts lately of friends who've been camping this Summer.  I agree with many of you --- it IS a lot of work for the adults & trying to coordinate everything can feel a bit crazy, but for sure is fun for the kids & great memories!  There are a lot of great campgrounds near here - so, last weekend, we took the kids on our first (successful) overnight camping trip at Honeyman State Park on the Oregon coast.  Loved it!  We rented sandboards to hit the dunes with the kids, swam at the lake, had fun time by the campfire, and of course sleeping under stars in a tent made it feel like an adventure.  Can't wait to do this again with the kids before Summer ends... wish we could join up with some of you & do a fun joint-family camping trip!

There goes Jack!

Oh is it ever a leg workout!  By the time we even got to the top of the dune, our calves were on fire!

I thought this was so cute; Maggie waking up in the tent the next morning --- her expression says it all

Inside the tent - it was actually roomy; we had the pack n' play at one end, an air mattress & the kiddos up at the other end.

Honeyman State Park campground; this is the swimming lake - you can see part of the dunes there at the end.  Campsites are to the left in the woods.  We had great weather & it was the perfect intro-to-camping with the kids & a great learning curve for us to know what would make it a little easier next time. ;)
