My parents came down to visit over the weekend & it was so much fun to have them with us. Dad was excited to take Ken & Jack fishing - something the guys have been talking about for a while now & all really looking forward to. To say Jack was excited would be an understatement. Ken too. Well, shoot, my Dad as well. ;) You should have seen all the gear he brought down & time he'd spent planning for this! Some of the best salmon fishing in the state is literally minutes away right here in the Umpqua River. No dice on catching any, but it's still early in the season. We were blessed with some beautiful weather too; a rarity these days for rainy, Spring, Oregon weather. We soaked up time outside on walks through the neighborhood, a visit to the wildlife safari, meals together, and topped it off with one of the best Easter services I've heard... then my parents did an egg & basket hunt for the kids before they left this morning. Loved this time together & the incredibly thoughtful ways my parents share & show love. Hope you all enjoyed a soul-refreshing weekend impacted by the incredible life-giving Gospel of Jesus celebrated this Easter Sunday.

Jack really wanted Ken to show him how to shave - here he is all proud to be trying it out. (the razor has a plastic cap on top which Ken made sure he knew not to remove.)
This keeps cracking me up; someday he'll probably laugh at this too! Yes, those are Maggie's magenta-pink glitter shoes he was incessant on trying on! :)
Ken dusting off the ol' tools to build me a raised garden bed. We have a bunch of veggie starts & seeds to plant with the kids, but given this being a rental, we needed a garden box that could be transportable in the event we move.

All done & ready for soil & the veggies! This turned out bigger than I had thought it would - needless to say, our 1 large bag of soil fills about 1/4 of this box - so we need 2 pick up at least 3 more bags before we can plant. That's this week's project. :)
