Thinking about: this old house

We weren't really looking- and aren't really looking at anything else since, but have fallen quite smitten with an old farm house just on the edge of town.  To be sure, this would be a huge undertaking & by far, the biggest rehab project we've ever done.  And, um, that's kinda the thing... at this stage of life with 3 young kids and Ken working full time, me homeschooling, the notion of us doing the work like in times past - seems more of a challenge: so that's a factor.  As are 2 other big things:  1) this house could be pandora's box - we know it has some major problems going into it, but just how bad it really is, is TBD once you get in there & start tearin' away.... and that, can quickly add up well past a budget for repairs.  2)  if we buy here, we tie ourselves here - and that can feel unsettling when we don't know the job future, ect... and in a town with population 7,000 ...  it's not like there are plenty of other jobs to be had if Ken changed industries.  All that being said, let me introduce this beauty.  It really has a specialness. The land itself is amazing.  Just under 2acres, fruit trees & beautiful trees galore, exotic bushes & plants, an internal rose garden with all kinds of speciality roses, blackberry bushes, raspberry bushes, another separate fenced garden with it's own sprinkler system hooked up to a well on the property for irrigating the land, 3 outbuildings all with electrical power (Ken is already dreaming of turning one in particular, into his "writing/study" shed.  And the views -- sigh.  Stunning mountain views of the Oregon landscape we've fallen in love with.  The back part of the property is more "woodsy" and backs up to a mountain side - where yes, I'm sure there's plenty of wildlife, but the whole perimter of the property is fenced.  The woodsy part would be perfect for riding mountain bikes or dirt bikes or 4-wheelers.  But let's get back to the house... 1930 farm house.  Big ol' porch overlooking the grounds & views, the bedrooms upstairs all have beautiful views --- and the layout has potential for sure.  Even laundry on the main floor, not in some dungeon of a basement. ;)  I've already got the whole shebang of dreams going for what I'd do if we went forward with this.. it's easy to do; really, you can walk into this place & start picturing all kinds of things!  In my mind, there's not another place in the area that could hold a candle to this ol' girl, but she surely needs a makeover to take her back to the glory days.  We're at the stage of having contractors bid for some of the major work to see if this is even feasible - and we're of course praying about it & talking things over much.  Whether it ever comes to be, is yet to know.   I know, this is crazy, right???
