Hi All, :)
Just a quick update --- wish I had the savvy to upload some pics onto the hotel computer here so you could see some of the beauty down here, but alas, just words today. Suffice it to say, the move has been an adventure so far. Mom & Dad both were sick with the flu the morning we left Spokane. Rough drive, to say the least. Mags is on meds for a bad ear & eye infection following what the doc thinks was H1 plus strep, so he has diarrhea. Enough said? Praise God, we are safely in our new town & all are on the mend, though Jack has seemingly come down with croup & Logan now has an eye infection. To top it off, upon getting keys for the house we were to be renting - we walked in & it WREAKED of wet dog/pet odor. We're talkin', off the charts. The kind of smell where you simply walk in, and feel like you need to turn around and shower. Jack is allergic to pets, and almost immediately got all itchy & eyes watery... called the property management company to tell her this just wasn't going to work and no returns to our calls all weekend. (on her personal cell) Let me give ya the list of "issues" with the house... and my parents were totally grossed out & couldn't believe it. The pics made it look great - guess it shows how much a personal walk-thru matters when renting. (something we didn't have the luxury of when we came down to apply & house hunt back in February because it was currently occupied.) Here's the list: bad, bad pet dander/odor. none of the locks worked properly - and you could only enter the house on the side door. front door glass is broken & bowing - you could literally push it through with a slight nudge of your hand if you wanted. potentially dangerous mold issues going on in the bathroom ceiling-- looks like the black mold they tried to just slap a quick cover of paint over & it's showing through. the walls are dingy & dirty, cracked, and the house is in overall rough condition... massive scratches on all the doors from a big dog, pet hair swirling under the cabinets & doors, bees inside, spiders & bugs galore, sediment coming into the garage, no openers when they told us it had 'em.... just kinda a big bummer to say the least. So began the scramble to find a new place. And let me tell ya, the rental market here is like... by the day! When something comes on, it's usually gone in no time. We went to look at 2 properties Saturday night, gone on Sunday morning. We have an application in for another & are waiting to hear back.... and, the property management company for the original house is contacting the owner to see if he/she are willing to replace all flooring, replace all the locks, and replace/repair the front door --- in which case, we then would make that work. All the while, our dear truck driver is in limbo & can only wait til tomorrow to unload us before he needs to be on to his next location --- and, everyone is still under the weather health wise. Awesomeness! :) I shouldn't joke, really, it's turning out fine & I totally trust God will work all things out perfectly. In the meantime, the kids have had a few fun opportunities to swim & sit in the hot tub, and the weather has been a glorious change... like mid 60's & 70's the past few days, sunshine occasionally, and just an overall different climate than what Spokane has been having. I love it here in Oregon... it's beautiful. But I miss home - I miss having a home. Hard to take care of sick little ones & be there for my folks when we're living out of suitcases & in a hotel with thin walls & keeping neighbors up at night. Hugs from Southern Oregon & let's hope if you don't hear from me for a few days, things are progressing nicely for a move into a home that works just right. :)
